Over the past 3 years I have been asked to design and illustrate animal characters for Healthy Times brand children and baby products. We will discuss over the phone what the product is, and what animal we think will be an appropriate ambassador for that product.
Once we decide on some animals, I will do a number of sketches of different versions of each animal, and ask for notes on which ones they prefer. Often we will take bits and pieces from a few to come up with the ideal look.
With the character finalized, I will sketch it in a number of appropriate scenarios, and we will discuss. Once approved, I go to color and final export.
I do all of my illustrations and sketches in Photoshop.
